You might want to check out the nearby 6,155-acre
Wet Beaver Wilderness,
also within the Coconino National Forest. While there, check out the "Crack" swimming hole and the Bell Trail,
which leads to the Bell Cascades, a series of small waterfalls and pools. The area is popular for hiking,
swimming, and picnicking, and a reliably cool place to cool off in the summer months.

Last Week: First Monsoon of the Season A mild one, for sure, complete with lightning and thunder, but no hail ... yet. Rain was light at this location but
Flagstaff reported flooding. I could see the system on the radar rolling by on either side of us. Dodged a bullet.
Comms were down for a good portion of the past 48 hrs due to cloud cover and/or lack of sun and lack of power.
All systems now operational and the forecast promises sunnier days ahead for the region. Check back here for the latest.

Didn't know these
little creatures
were in this area until my hiking partner nearly stepped on one the other day! Maybe 3.5 inches long and almost
as wide, back in the day we used to call these things 'Horny Toads', although they are true lizards
(Phrynosoma platyrhinos).
